3 Ways to Harness the Energy of Spring

Spring has sprung here in the south and I could not be happier! When the grass is green and the trees are budding, when the sun is shining and it’s not too hot to sit outside at 2 in the afternoon, I always feel like there is nothing I can’t do. I understand why “spring cleaning” was a traditional yearly activity. The energy of this season is all about new beginnings and what a better way to do that than to sweep out the old!

Spring correlates to the follicular phase of our menstrual cycles, (This is the phase between the menstrual phase and the ovulatory phase) and I encourage my clients and community to spend this phase planning and preparing new dreams and goals for the month. I also love teaching my clients how, in a bigger picture view, they can also sync up with the rhythm of the earth’s seasons!

When we look at what we have available by way of herbs and veggies growing in this season and when we take into account the whole energy of spring, we find that we have an excellent blueprint for our wellness goals for this quarter! Over the next few weeks I will be getting into more specifics about what we can do to spring clean our bodies and wellness routines, but today I want to talk about some of the practical ways we can tune into the clues that the seasons give us.

#1- Out With The Old, In With The New

This season is all about new beginnings and fresh starts, but for many of us our homes, minds, and schedules are so jam-packed with the old that we can’t begin to think about starting or planning for different things. I challenge you this month, to figure out which area of your life need decluttering and make a plan to tackle that.

#2- Plan a New Project

Now that you have things decluttered (or the plan to) what is a new project that you want to start that will bring you energy? Maybe it is a home project you have been putting off because you don’t think you have time, or a business idea or project that will make work life easier. Whatever it is, sit down and break it into bite-sized pieces and plan to finish it this season if it is a shorter goal.

#3- Get Creative

Spring is the season of creativity! Even if you think that you aren’t a creative person because you can’t paint a masterpiece (raising my hand over here) I promise that there is something that you are good at creating. Maybe you enjoy baking or creating artistic flower arrangements. Or maybe there is a creative area that you want to grow in, so you want to schedule time to take a class! I love the online platform Craftsy for learning new, creative techniques. It’s like Netflix for classes on sewing, gardening, woodworking, photography, painting, etc, and you are sure to find something that you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home!

Now I want to know, what ideas are swirling around in your head right now that are getting you excited? Take some time to dream and brainstorm and share your thoughts in the Whole Mama Group!
